SAVE THE INTERNET and The Conversation.

BOBW 16 I would like to take a moment to say that it is important for you to contact your local representative and to let them know that you support net neutrality. Net neutrality is defined as, “ the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites.” I don't know about you, but I do not want my internet provider (Comcast) to be able to charge me more just for watching Netflix. Not only that, but they could charge Netflix extra as well! That is double dipping and the only double dipping I appreciate is in a nacho bowl. Do us all a favor and go here to help stop Internet providers from taking over the world. Support Net Neutrality. Now that the brief civics lesson is done, how about some friendship? I want to mention my go to move to start a conversation. I have talked before about how all people have things in common. I think my firs...

Reconnecting With Friends

BOBW 15 I would like to dedicate a few posts to reconnecting with old friends. Most of us have had friends in the past we lost touch with, and it would be interesting to look at ways to say hello to them once again. Here is what I have found. The step is to find the friends you want to reach out to. You can do this through social media, or maybe you have their phone number? Also it is nice to be prepared when you are out doing errands or something and you see an old friend or acquaintance.  And if you don't have either of those, you could just do some good new fashioned cyber stalking. You know like looking through their work place's facebook page, or blood samples. I am not judging.  Here are some more tips to meet up with old friends. One you can try is to meet up with a mutual acquaintance. They might be likely to know of the old friend you are looking for. You can contact the school you both went and try using the alumni organization's resources. And then you...

Workers Need Friendship Too

BOBW 14 I have had a lot on my mind lately, and I was not able to come up with a social challenge for myself last weekend. I am definitely ready to step it up because lately I have just been feeling good about myself. Anyway here is the friendship challenge I have in mind. It is not much of a challenge, but the idea is to talk to the people that work at an establishment, also known as employees. This idea comes from two things, a terrible terrible alcohol fueled night I had recently, and employees are paid to be nice to you. It is easier to talk to an employee, because it greatly decreases the likely hood that the person will act negatively toward you. Now also keep in mind, tipped workers will pretty much always be friendly with you even if your friendship banter is not as good as you think it is. Because of this, make sure any connections you make a genuine before continuing. Another point that makes talking to hired help interesting is that the workers might enjoy a break from...

Big Brother

BOBW 13 It is that time of of the summer! I may be a couple weeks late, but I'm going to talk about it anyway. Big Brother is back CBS. It is a pretty big deal for me, because this is a show that has made me want to get out of my shell and better myself. It pretty much can be said that it came up with the friendship idea. Okay it probably can not claim the word friendship, but it spread it around quite a bit. So here are two of the things I love about it brother. 1. The Social Experience This is a reality show were 16 people from different backgrounds, live in a house together and evict each other 1 at a time. They play games to win prizes, and to further themselves in the show. They do all this for prize money at the end. How far would you go to win half million dollars? Would you lie, cheat, and steal? These 16 people are also trapped in this house so they always go crazy and turn on each other. Big Brother is an great social experiment, and I love to see how it changes p...

A Bar's Universal Greeting

BOBW 12 When you see a pretty young lady across the room, the thing men are taught to do is offer her drink. You stumble up to her, mumble a greeting and then ask, “Can I buy you a drink?” She will typically respond with a yes and once she gets that drink BOOOOOOOOM she is gone like Sonic the hedgehog after spotting a chili dog cart. OK it does not always have to go like that but that's pretty typical from a male point of view. So why not spend that money on someone who will appreciate it? Buy that drink for a fellow man! He will be much more likely to assume you have no agenda and accept the gesture of friendship you are putting forth. I had this realization when I saw guy dancing at a bar and he spilled his drink and looked completely defeated. He gave a bit of a smile and said, “Oh well!” Then he headed to the bar for another drink. I thought to myself, “Would it not be nice if I replaced his drink, and struck up a conversation?” That would be out of the ordinary and it wo...

Beercade

Image
BOBW 11 In the spirit of practicing what I preach, I decided to take a trip out this weekend. My memory is still a little fuzzy due to plenty of alcohol, but I will do my best to recollect the night. It started out just like any other night, the clock hit the 10 PM and that means it was time to suit up. I wanted to check out a particular spot called the 8 bit Beercade. This place is fun twist between a bar with plenty of interesting beer options and a video game arcade as the name suggests. The concept is very similar to what I want to do, so I thought it would be best to see how it works up close and not sober. I walked in and was greeted by the typical bouncer and the bar is the first thing upon walking through the doors. This is perfect, because the establishment has its priorities set. Sell drinks! I bought a drink and walked around taking in the atmosphere. The set up was great. It felt good to walk around and watch all the games being played. One thing I really liked abo...

Sneeze Page

BOBW 10 AAAACHOOOO boys and girls what is up? It has been a long journey, and I just want to take the time to look back at what we have done so far. I have made a few lists up to this point and I am proud to show them off again starting with the top four reasons to get up off your booty and do something this upcoming weekend. The post I am talking about lets you know that after a long week it is good to celebrate and just say, “Hey you made it!” And that is as good a reason as any to celebrate. You also have to meet people to make friends and maybe you will have a very good night. You never know! Top 4 reason to go out. The next post I digging back up is the friendship blog list. This post is about a long lost blog that left us on June first. But all hope is not gone! There is a Facebook group you can join to keep sharing stories about friendship, ask for advice, or whatever you may need on your friendship journey. Throw a post on the proper gender's board and you ...
