A Bar's Universal Greeting
BOBW 12
When you see a pretty young lady across the room, the thing men are taught to do is offer her drink. You stumble up to her, mumble a greeting and then ask, “Can I buy you a drink?” She will typically respond with a yes and once she gets that drink BOOOOOOOOM she is gone like Sonic the hedgehog after spotting a chili dog cart. OK it does not always have to go like that but that's pretty typical from a male point of view.
So why not spend that money on someone who will appreciate it? Buy that drink for a fellow man! He will be much more likely to assume you have no agenda and accept the gesture of friendship you are putting forth. I had this realization when I saw guy dancing at a bar and he spilled his drink and looked completely defeated. He gave a bit of a smile and said, “Oh well!” Then he headed to the bar for another drink. I thought to myself, “Would it not be nice if I replaced his drink, and struck up a conversation?” That would be out of the ordinary and it would put a smile on his face!
I was a bit to slow to offer since the fellow's girlfriend saved the day, but next time I will be ready to offer my services at gentleman and friend. So next time you are out enjoying the night and see a bro with some bad luck, tip your hat and offer him a drink. I am sure he will appreciate it.
